Queer Rebel - a movie of a book by Phillip Luddite.
It all started with a dream, in a time when the internet and windows was still in planning, not an every day/every ones commodity. In this dream I came upon a big book full of images. I turned the pages and I noticed that the images were animated, like small movies running within the frames. As I started concentrating on one of them I suddenly jumped into the picture, into the world and the situation of the small frame, unfolding into a universe around me. But not only this, after a while of participation within the image I jumped back out of it, finding myself in front of the book once again. It was a book with which the viewer could enter and exit the realities of the images displayed within it. Here I want to remind of the parallel to virtual reality - how nowadays we enter and leave certain domains within the internet/computer by clicking the mouse, but naturally this association did not accrue to me then due to the fact that internet did not exist.
Queer Rebel(the book) was conceived and made during a journey trough southern Spain and Portugal. A question I´m frequently asked is if the books I make are diaries or have a story and indeed I believe they do, though every viewer may find a different story. I´m often told that the experience of exploring the pages remind them of watching a movie. Maybe that´s why I decided to make digital representation out of one of my books. The title is Queer Rebel because at the time of creation I was researching the wonders and beauties of gender issues. The randomly chosen music is a suggestion but not binding to the contents of the work.
