Silakka - Expedition to the Baltic Sea

Silakka is a wind powered sailing boat built out of recycled materials - from waste that our contemporary lifestyle is producing. During the summer 2010 Silakka has been sailing around Baltic sea and archipelago, far from rectangular conventions and dusty tasting logic of the solid ground. During the sailings the crew was inviting some artist, scientist and critical thinkers from various backgrounds to join the expedition and talk and think about the Baltic Sea and some crucial factors in our culture and politics that are directly affecting the sea and causing environmental problems in general. The whole project will be presented in Turku from 28th of May to 30th of August 2011.

The Crew: Teemu Takatalo, Tommi Taipale, Heikki Tuorila, Juha Mehtäläinen, Ossi Kakko, Riku Ritvanen, Juho Vuori, Hanna Arima, Viljami Ritvanen, Aura Kalli, Philip Pedersen, Sebastian Boulter, Outi Yli-Viikari, Jonne Kauko and many others.

Silakka is produced by Capsula and Bioart Society Finland and funded by AVEK and Turku2011
