New media project Yleisradio.net is about to open for public. The project is mainly Finland based, but the content will be widely global. Name Yleisradio.net is straight copied from the Finnish National Radio(Yleisradio) which is the biggest broadcast media cluster in Finland - five television channels and several national radio channels and 20 local ones. Even though the National Radio is funded by tax money it´s not independent from competition with commercial media. This position effects to quality of the media in very negative way - as you can imagine. As the most important employer for independent movie makers and other media freelancers the Finnish National Radio has an autocracy over majority of the creative work done by these folks. Unfortunately the policy of the National Radio is not supporting enough artists who are doing experimental or critical media. In Finland we talk about National Radio standard, that means safe - often boring - decisions with entertaining content. From these reasons the Finnish National Radio is a good target for cultural jamming and that´s why this site is named how it is. Yleisradio.net media project is not meant to compete with the Finnish National Radio. Instead we are interested to launch an independent media with high quality creative content. This content will be carefully selected by the highly sophisticated Yleisradio.net team. Hope you enjoy, spread a word and pay a visit later again, when we have more material to share.
